Kenya seeks to market herself at London Olympics

President Mwai Kibaki presents the national flag to Kenya team captain to the London Olympic Games, David Rudisha, and his assistant Pamela Jelimo, at State House Nairobi on June 27 2012.

President Mwai Kibaki presents the national flag to Kenya team captain to the London Olympic Games, David Rudisha, and his assistant Pamela Jelimo, at State House Nairobi on June 27 2012.

Kenya will take advantage of the Olympic Games in London to market herself as an investment, tourism and trade destination through its rented establishment in East Thames, West Ham Lane in Stratford.

The Kenya house London 2012, the name given to the location that will be used by local companies to wholesomely market Kenya during the Olympics, will host stakeholders from diverse sectors, including banking and agriculture.

This will help fill in the gaps and inform the market more of prospects available in Kenya other than tourism and sports products the country has been known for years.

Kenya house London 2012 is a brain child of Brand Kenya, a parastatal charged with the responsibility of creating and maintaining Kenya as a distinguished brand, and Kenya tourism board.

The marketing strategy envisions attracting revenues to Kenya by showcasing various sectors of the economy by using sports as an opening.
The initiative will be launched on Monday in Nairobi before the team goes to London.
