Some 1.2 million taxpayers had filed their annual returns online through the Kenya Revenue Authority’s (KRA) iTax system two days to the deadline.

The window for filing returns for the period between January and December 2015 closes Thursday.

“The authority urges taxpayers to seek assistance at the iTax support centres across the country if they have challenges in filing returns,” acting domestic taxes commissioner Benson Korongo said in a statement.

KRA’s iTax platform has afforded taxpayers the luxury of filing returns from the comfort of their homes or offices any time. The online platform has also helped cut out hassles associated with the previous manual system.

The taxman has established 21 iTax support centres in 37 Huduma Centres across the country to facilitate both individual and corporate taxpayers in submitting their returns.
