African Oil Corporation has reportedly discovered an additional 43 metres of oil in the Ngamia-1 well located Turkana over and above the 100m already found in March.
The discovery was made after the well had been drilled to a total depth of 2,340 meters, but this has now been suspended to allow for flow testing.
The company said that a testing process would be carried out in order to ascertain the full potential of the oil discovery.
“The large number of leads and prospects developed to date shows the major upside potential of these basins and many of these have now been de-risked by the success at Ngamia,” said Keith Hill, the Africa Oil President and CEO.
“We look forward to several more high impact wells this year as we accelerate the exploration of these highly prospective trends."
