The Kenya Airports Authority is set to demolish the building that was gutted down by a fire in August at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi.
In a notice, published Monday, KAA invited bids for the demolition of Unit 2, which included the arrival and baggage halls. The building was condemned and will be rebuilt as part of the ongoing airport modernisation.
KAA is looking for contractors who have been involved in at least three major projects, worth Sh90 million each, in the past five years.
The company or the lead firm is expected to have a minimum annual turnover of Sh200 million or equivalent in other currencies, with a cash flow of about Sh50 million. They have until February 18 to bid.
The contractor is expected to have experience in demolition of multi-storey structures and the removal and disposal of hazardous and contaminated waste.
