Auditors elect ex-KTDA staff new chairman

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) members have elected Fernandes Barasa the new chairman.

Mr Barasa will serve for a three-year term after winning the elections whose results were declared on Thursday. He garnered 2,318 votes to beat his closest rival Rashid Mohamed who got 1,454 votes.

Voting took place over eight days between May 20 and 28.

Mr Barasa is a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce and MBA degrees from Kenyatta University.

He has previously held senior positions at the Kenya Tea Development Agency and Kenya Airways.

Mr Barasa is also the convener of the finance and strategy committee of the ICPAK.

June Kivinda and Samuel Okello were elected to the council for a term of three years.

The new officials will be officially unveiled during the ICPAK annual general meeting on June 5, at KCA University grounds on Thika Road.
