Carbacid shares rise 59pc after bonus, share split announcement

Shares of carbon dioxide maker Carbacid, jumped 58.62 per cent after the company’s announcement that it was giving bonus shares and splitting its stock in addition to a final dividend payment.
The shares rose to a high of Sh250 during Wednesday’s trade and closed at Sh230 compared to a closing price of Sh145 on Tuesday, after 19,600 shares changed hands.

Carbacid on Tuesday said that its profit after tax rose 22.16 per cent to Sh475.54 million for the full year ended July 2013 from Sh389.28 million for the full year ended July 2012.
Wednesday’s close means that the share has gained by 88.52 per cent when compared to its opening price of Sh122 on the first trading day of this year.
The firm, which produces and supplies pressurised carbon dioxide and dry ice declared a final dividend of Sh3 per share, unchanged from the previous year, taking the total payout for the year to Sh6.
