This comes at a time when Centum is modelling itself into a private equity fund as it seeks to raise money from rich individuals and institutions to close buyout deals as the firm races to diversify fund raising avenues.

The investment firm will establish a fully fledged private equity unit in 12 to 24 months.

The firm funds its fresh acquisitions from a combination of retained earnings and borrowings from banks and has been mulling selling a corporate bond at the Nairobi Stock Exchange.

Centum said in July that it expected its assets under management to triple to Sh30 billion by 2014.
