“With the advent of the fibre optic technology in Kenya, and the reduction of the internet access bandwidth tariffs, we see greater awareness towards the internet to transform the way business is done” said Dr Ndemo. “However, we need to need to educate locals how they can sell their products online so as to widen their market.
Online commerce and mobile payment are seen as the big next thing in the region, with 15 million Kenyans owning mobile, mobile phones have an instant access to mobile based tools or an online transaction processing system that would allow those selling their goods online do so with much convenience.
