Aside from counterfeits and a reduction in external demand, cigarette manufacturers have also had to contend with the effects of the tobacco regulations that were introduced last year.
The Tobacco Control Act 2007, for instance, is said to have contributed to the 12 per cent decline in BAT’s domestic half-year sales in 2009.
