Linux Chix Africa to mentor girls on technology

LinuxChix Africa, Kenya chapter, will run a technology mentorship program for 600 high school girls in September this year.

The program is aimed at building computing skills among women by inspiring young girls to take up careers in information technology (IT) and Computer Science.

“We expect about 600 girls to take part in this event. The team is composed of former and current Computer Science students and other luminaries in the industry," said Dorcas Muthoni Co founder, LinuxChix Africa.

The Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector in Kenya has in the recent past continued to show more growth which in turn has attracted more investors in the country.

Vision 2030, the government economic blue print acknowledges it as a worthwhile venture and has sought to make sure Kenya sets up its first ICT city- Konza technology city at a cost of Sh800billion..
