“We are banking on wind power and geothermal to increase the national output. These sources are able to mitigate against the rising cost of oil and are environmentally friendly. They are cheap to operate,” said Mr Njoroge.

The targets set by KenGen for wind power feed-in to the national grind could however change if private investors start their projects on set deadlines.
