Airtel Kenya has partnered with British Airways to reward its heavy spenders with a 25 per cent discount on air tickets for flights from Nairobi to the United Kingdom, North America and Europe.

Under the partnership, close to 64,000 Airtel premier subscribers (postpaid and prepaid) who spend between Sh5,000 to Sh20,000 monthly on airtime and data purchases are eligible for the discount, which will be valid for all bookings made until May 31, 2015.

The discount applies on the ticket price (excluding airport taxes, fees and surcharges). The promotion is only valid on tickets purchased from the British Airways website.

The purchased ticket remains valid for one year from the first date of travel as long as the outbound travel from Nairobi is taken on or before 31st December 2015.

Loyalty offers such as the discounted air tickets and Bonga points by Safaricom are one of the products mobile operators are using to lock in their subscribers.

“As a company, we have always ensured that our Premier customers get the best value, enjoy the finest services and benefit from cutting edge products. The discount offer on air ticket through our partnership with British Airways shows how we provide more value to all our distinguished customers,” Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said in a statement.

Premier customers will be required to e-mail the company to qualify for this offer.

Once a customer has received a code, he/she will then proceed to log on to the British Airways website and enter the code in the promotional text box to book and purchase the ticket.

“British Airways is excited to partner with Airtel by offering discounted rates to its customers.  We hope that Airtel Premier travellers will utilise this unique opportunity,” said Edward frost, British Airways regional commercial manager for East and Southern Africa.

“British Airways remains committed to ensuring comfort to our customers. British Airways continues to invest not only in Kenya but globally in new aircraft, smarter cabins, elegant lounges, and new technologies to make life more comfortable in the air and on the ground,” He added.
