Chinese engineering group China WuYi Co Ltd has won four lucrative tenders worth a cumulative Sh10 billion, boosting its revenues in Kenya’s construction market.

The firm - which has worked on a significant portion of the country's infrastructure projects - will work on various ventures ranging from shopping malls to highway construction.

“China Wuyi industry company limited (hereinafter "the company") recently in Kenya won 4 international construction projects, worth a cumulative amount Sh10.189 billion,” the company said in a notice.

One of the projects, the firm said, is located in Meru town and involves building shopping malls, office and apartment buildings with total floor area of 48,000 square metres within a period of 24 months. The contracts were signed on September 2, 2015.

Chinese companies have previously won major contracts in Kenya, pushing rival Kenyan and European firms to the periphery mainly by quoting the lowest bids.
