The former Kenya Airways finance director Alex Wainaina Mbugua is seeking to be reinstated after he was sacked following a Sh29 billion loss at the airline.

The Court has ordered that KQ stops its search for a new finance director until April 29th 2016 when Justice Monica Mbaru will decide whether he will be reinstated.

Mr Mbugua first obtained an order stopping his replacement as KQ finance director on March 18, days after the national carrier sent him packing.

He says that he has satisfactorily met all the obligations outlined in his contract and performed well in all job appraisals conducted in the last eight years.

KQ has blamed Mr Mbugua for the Sh29.7 billion pre-tax loss the airline suffered in the 2014-2015 financial year.

Mr Mbugua had served as the carrier's group finance director for eight years after his appointment in July 2008.

His exit in January was seen to be in line with Treasury’s announcement last year that the firm's top managers would likely lose their jobs before the State releases a proposed bailout package.
