Kenyan travel firm seeks growth in link with Australian partner

Kenyan travel company Charleston Travel has partnered with Australian publicly listed travel company FCm Travel Solution in a bid to provide Kenyans more solutions and options.

The partnership with allow Charleston offer its clients a wider range of seamless solutions in all countries where the Australian company is represented.

“This partnership will enable us serve our clients better both in Kenya and internationally using the FCm network and capabilities,” said Charleston Travel chief executive Mohammed Wanyoike.

“It also provides us with an edge when we plan to list on Nairobi Securities Exchange’s new Growth Enterprise Market Segment.”

Charleston Travel, which made it to the Business Daily Top 100 2012 club, has expressed interest to list at the bourse in the next couple of years.

Mr Wanyoike and his wife, Ann, bought the company eight years ago and have grown it into one of the top agents in Kenya.

Kenyan travel companies have continuously sought to partner with international companies in a bid to offer a wider range of services and seamless travel solutions.

Bunson travel, one of the oldest agents in the country, partnered with international Carlson Wagonlit Travel in 1999, a partnership that is still ongoing, while others have opted to partner with Uniglobe.

FCm Travel was launched in 2004 following the merger of different travel companies that had established themselves in the industry.

The company boasts a global network extending more than 75 countries.
