Former chief executive of the Capital Markets Authority Stella Kilonzo has joined the board of Athi River Mining, marking her first appointment since leaving the regulator on June 30.

Mrs Kilonzo offered not to seek re-appointment at the end of her first four-year term as CEO of the regulatory body that is now headed by Mr Paul Muthaura in an acting capacity.

ARM said it has appointed Mrs Kilonzo to tap her experience in finance, corporate governance, and institutional capacity building, making her the first female director of the cement manufacturer.

“Iam pleased to announce that Mrs Stella Kilonzo has joined the ARM Cement Ltd Board as a non-executive director,” ARM’s managing director Pradeep Paunrana said in a notice to the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Mrs Kilonzo holds an MBA in corporate finance from the Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelors of Commerce, First Class Honours, from the University of Eastern Africa.
