A handicap nine, he has been known to lift titles including this year’s Total Kenya Golf Day that was played this month.

A keen reader, Mr Gitura also enjoys travelling and interacting with people. He tries to make at least three trips per year. His travels have seen him visit major galleries across the world including in the UK, South Africa, Brazil, India, and the US.

He has visited the Picasso museum in Barcelona, Spain, and seen the Michelangelo paintings in Rome, Italy, at least 10 times. The visits were part of his art education and inspiration.

“It is fascinating to see what these people have done,” he said. One of the earlier works that he interacted with and enjoys is of Tanzanian painter Elimo Njau at the Anglican Cathedral in Murang’a.

He also loves music. Mr Gitura has been known to carry a tune at Karaoke bars, in Kenya and beyond.
The exhibition will be on display at the National Museum of Kenya until December 15, with the price of the paintings ranging from Sh45,000 to Sh150,000.
