Kenya Judicial Staff Association (KJSA) has supported the sacking of former chief registrar Gladys Boss Shollei.

The association, which represents judiciary workers other than the judges and magistrates, on Tuesday claimed that she mistreated its members and that she played no role in the judiciary transformation.

Chief Justice Willy Mutunga last Friday said that Judicial Service Commission (JSC) had unanimously decided to sack Mrs Shollei after she admitted to 33 claims in which Sh1.7 billion was lost and denied 38 allegations involving Sh250 million.

“As a judicial staff association, we support the Chief Justice and JSC decision to send her home,” said Sango Maewa, KJSA chairperson.

Mrs Shollei Monday denied that she admitted to the allegations and accused the Chief Justice and JSC of being dishonest.

She said that the Judiciary had not lost any money as claimed by the JSC and that she was merely a victim of vendetta by some of commissioners who have been against her fight for reforms.

Dr Mutunga however said that the commission had observed that the smear campaign fuelled by misinformation, distortion and outright lies that characterised the two-month disciplinary process against her continues.

“Time has come for the JSC to begin telling truths about the former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary,” he said in a statement after Mrs Shollei’s press conference on Monday.
