Kenya Power has withdrawn a case it had filed against the county government of Mombasa which it accused of arresting her staff for cutting down trees along powerlines.

The application by the utility firm was based on the grounds that it was carrying out maintenance program within the county on its power lines.

“The plaintiff is carrying out the exercise to ensure reliability of electric power supply in order to reduce outages experienced within coast region,” the application by Kenya Power read in part.

Kenya Power claimed the actions of the county government in arresting its employees while maintaining their way leaves is illegal and in bad faith as it had not been sanctioned by the law or court.

Since May 31, Kenya Power has been enjoying interim orders restraining the county government of Mombasa from arresting her staff engaged in distribution and supply of electricity.
