One of the best ways to take advantage of culinary treats from across the globe is taking part in the Restaurant Week series.

Restaurant Week is a culinary event that takes place worldwide and is all about fine dining at the best for less for a given period. During Restaurant Week, you have the chance to dine at top restaurants for a discounted set menu-price.

Currently Restaurant Week is held in 35 major cities like New York, Amsterdam, Cape Town, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. The first ever edition was held in New York in 1998.

After that, Restaurant Week has been organised annually in among others: The Netherlands, Belgium, Singapore and Italy. Not to be left behind, Nairobi restaurants also joined the bandwagon a few years ago with offers at top restaurants that give the locals a chance to enjoy the best. The Nairobi offers start from January 28th.

Nairobi Restaurant Week

January 28 to February 6

The event will be happening in restaurants in the heart of the city and the outskirts. 60 restaurants are expected to participate in this year’s NRW.

“Nairobi Restaurant Week 2016 offers the ultimate culinary experience by bringing to light Kenya’s vibrant dining scene in a diverse showcase of Nairobi’s best restaurants.

With different flavours from Kenya all coming together in the country’s biggest annual celebration of food and fine dining, there has never been a better time to discover the tantalizing sensations of eating and drinking in Kenya’s best restaurants,” says Najib Balala, Cabinet Secretary of Tourism.

This year, NRW2016 has teamed up with South African winemaker, Nederburg and will feature three- course tasting menus priced at either Sh1500 or Sh2500 per person with special offers on a selection of Nederburg wines. Several restaurants will also offer a two-course lunch menu for either Sh1000 or Sh1500 per person.

New York Restaurant Week

January 18–February 5

The ongoing NYC Restaurant Week is the city’s celebration of fine dining. Participating restaurants have all been evaluated based on the same set of criteria.

This helps ensure that the restaurants are of a similar calibre. The criteria that determines whether an invitation is issued includes: price point (NYC Restaurant Week prices should be a 30–50%+ discount off of the regular menu), ratings, reviews, chef bios, and awards won.

Dubai Restaurant Week

The inaugural Dubai Restaurant Week will take place from 25 February to 5 March 2016 and will include amazing menus from 30 of the best-known and loved fine dining restaurants in the city.

China Restaurant Week

March 3 to March 13

China Restaurant Week is being organised by DiningCity China. DiningCity is the leading international restaurant guide with a clutter-free database of more than 25,000 carefully-selected restaurants across the globe.

After successfully launching DiningCity in The Netherlands, countries in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, China followed in 2010. DiningCity China currently hosts more than 350 restaurants.

The eighth Edition of China Restaurant Week will take place in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Chengdu. And more than 200 well-chosen restaurants will be included. The booking website will be opened to the public from February 25.

Urban Food Fest

February to December in London, Shoreditch

The market runs every Saturday from February to December, with each week’s edition following a theme. The market runs from 5pm until midnight, and attendees will be able to feast on a huge variety of hot and cold delicacies from the plethora of street food trucks and stalls.

Food vendors will also change each week, meaning you’ll be able to experience a different atmosphere each time you attend the festival.
