Former Vice President Moody Awori and 15 serving MPs are among more than 1,000 people who were irregularly allocated Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) land.
The list, tabled in Parliament Thursday by Lands assistant minister Gonzi Rai, did not identify the 15 MPs from Ukambani region and army generals who Dujis MP Adan Duale accused of grabbing public land.
However, a Mr Samuel Mutua Kivuitu was allocated plot number 137, a Mr Johnson Muthama got plot 1083, Mulu Mutisya plot 1084, and S. Lesirma 1096.
It is not clear if the named individuals are former Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) chairman Samuel Kivuitu, former Ukambani political kingpin Mulu Mutisya, or current assistant minister for Provincial Administration and Samburu West MP Simeon Lesirma respectively.
Mr Duale, who demanded the tabling of a comprehensive list of beneficiaries of KMC land, sought more time to interrogate the list saying that the identities of the sitting MPs should also be disclosed.
“We want a detailed description of persons named. Former PSs or current PSs will be coming to the House for vetting . Qualify the names as well as list of directors of companies,” said Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale.
Kilome MP Harun Mwau, however, said a substantive motion was required to discuss sitting MPs.
Two weeks ago, KMC managing commissioner Ibrahim Issak revealed that it had no title deeds for 16 prime properties it owns in key towns, including that on which the KMC factory in Athi River sits.
