STEPHEN MUDIARI. Chairman of the Commission on Revenue Allocation Micah Cheserem speaks during a press conference at Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi, April 26, 2012.

Nairobi County will receive the lion's share from the projected sh200 billion counties budget for the 2012/2013 financial year, the Commission on Revenue Allocation has revealed.

Releasing the recommendations on Thursday, CRA Chairman Micah Cheserem said Nairobi will receive Sh11.7bn, which is 5.9 per cent of the counties' budget.

Lamu County will receive the lowest allocation at Sh1.4bn.

However at individual level (per capita income) Lamu county residents would receive the highest as the commission seeks to ensure growth and equity from the ‘national cake’ sharing.

According to the projections, per capita income for Lamu County stands at Sh13,876 and Nairobi at Sh3,729.
