Mombasa security officials have launched a manhunt for a Kenyan drug baron who relocated from Canada recently.

The man, whose identity police refused to disclose saying it will jeopardise investigations, arrived from Canada a week ago and is using youths to conduct his illegal business, says a report by Mombasa County security committee chairman Mr Nelson Marwa.

Mr Marwa said the government will focus on drug lords by targeting the source, supplier and dealers in order to disrupt the market.

“The Kenyan citizen drug baron relocated from Canada recently he is stationed in Kibokoni and is using youths to sell and as his consumers. We have launched a manhunt for him,” said Mr Marwa.

Speaking during his weekly security briefing, Mr Marwa said this year the national government will focus more on drug menace and the source, adding that drug trafficking is the number one crime contributor in the county.
