Prospect for new job sparks payslip row with Shiro

She sent me a number of case studies to prepare for the interview.
The interview was rather gruelling and took an hour and a half. I was feeling so hot inside and outside because the questions were rather intense and I was wearing a suit — something I had not done in close to two years.
Finally, it was all over and now here I am on the way home to unwind. To be honest, I am really hoping that this job comes through — I am tired of Mombasa and I am feeling like I need more money so that I can take care of my family.
Just when I am thinking of whether I should go play a nine at the golf club, my phone rings — it is Shiro. She sounds quite excited as she asks me how the interview went and whether I think I will get the job.
I try to be cautiously optimistic and mask just how badly I want it. She says, “Anyway, I had a chat with my mother about our discussion last night.”
I cannot remember what we spoke about so she quickly reminds me about our chat regarding the payslips. I listen to Shiro as she tells me how her mother told her that we as a couple must be open about our finances.
She tells me, “So today evening I will show you my payslip and I hope you can bring yours too. We must be open as a couple.” I am in no mood so I mumble a half-hearted yes and get ready for the golf course.
