Embattled Rangwe MP George Oner is set to lose four properties worth millions of shillings to the auctioneer’s hammer months after he was cleared of land fraud charges.

The four properties — three residential/ commercial flats in Pipeline estate, Embakasi and a three-bedroom residential house in Ngong —will be sold on June 22, denying the MP hundreds of thousands of shillings in monthly rent.

One of the flats has 103 single rooms, a second has 70 and the third is under construction. The properties also have 10 shops between them.

The notice of the auction by Keysian Auctioneers said “all that property [is] in the name of George Oner Ogal”.

A single room in the area lets for between Sh3,000 and Sh4,500 which puts the MP’s loss of rental income in the range of Sh540,000-Sh810,000.
Mr Oner weathered a two-year court battle with Nairobi businessman Benson Ritho Mureithi.

Mr Mureithi had accused him of making alterations to part of a 50-acre parcel of land in Embakasi valued at approximately Sh1 billion, which was then subdivided and allegedly sold without the owner’s consent.

Resident Magistrate Edda Agade threw out the suit, saying the prosecution’s case fell short of the requirements of an arguable case as there was no evidence to support the claim that Mr Oner forged or made a false document.
