Financial crisis

One new shareholder suggested that the catering at the event should have been reviewed in view of financial crisis taking place at the time.

His suggestion was that the board should have considered offering “a stiff drink” instead, as that would have been more in tune with “the order of the day.”

Minutes later, a shareholder wondered if the British airline would save money by not painting its planes.

The step, he said, would also reduce the plane’s weight and hence fuel costs.

One thing that the two events have in common is the fact that they were carried out in less than three hours and when the time to vote on key issues arrived, decisions were made swiftly and were undramatic, a shift from the past when such issues were handled more seriously.
