TBC joins a growing list of firms that include Bata, Armco, Nairobi Sports House, Sangyug, Victoria Court Furniture and other small and medium enterprises that are maximising the growth in online platforms to reach the tech savvy customers.

“Jumia is a well-known e-commerce site that is recognised and respected widely. As such they are a good match for Text Book Centre to partner with in an effort to better serve our customers,” Rajiv Chowdhry, managing director TBC said in a statement.

Jumia Kenya allows merchants to showcase their products online transforming their physical store to an e-store and bridging the gap between online and offline sales. The seller centre allows merchants to monitor their sales as well as pending, shipped and cancelled orders on their own. Jumia takes an agreed commission only for products sold.

“Text Book Centre customers will enjoy an easy, stress free and convenient shopping experience. Once they place an order Jumia will deliver anywhere in Kenya. They also have the option to pay cash on delivery,” Parinaz Firozi, MD, Jumia Kenya said.

Merchants listing on the website enjoy convenience as Jumia handles the product warehousing, marketing, customer care, delivery and after sales and remits cash resulting from the sales to the merchants at an agreed date. To sell on the website, the product needs to be brand-new, unused, unopened and in its original packaging.

The product should include the original manufacturer’s warranty, with warranty details included in the listing comments. The seller will then upload the product image with a description before the product goes live on the company’s website.
