This pub is ablaze, especially on Fridays

Their pizzas are really good. They are wood-fired and come to the table hot and sticky.

The Fungi pizza, which I ordered, was particularly scrumptuous. The crust was thin as it should be.

It was also at the right temperature; not too hot to feel like you’re eating hot tar and not too cold to make you feel like you are eating rubber.

Que Pasa is a great place to eat at. Pick one of those tables inside -surrounded by all the black and white artwork on the walls - if you want a private moment.

Otherwise, sit at the bar, it’s a gorgeous bar, plus it’s next to the entrance with a huge door that lets in a breeze throughout.

Every Tuesday and Fridays are happy hours. And on Friday, they remove the tables from the main dining area and transform the place into a disco. The crowd on those days throb with energy. The place pulsates with life.

Que Pasa - tucked away at one of the entrances of Karen shopping centre - is a famous hangout for Karen residents who want to catch a drink with friends.

I saw a few prominent lawyers, high officials in the judiciary and some affluent business people.

The crowd is quite mature on any other day, but on Fridays, you will be hard-pressed to define the crowd; it’s basically anyone who is thirsty for a drink.

There is something rustic about this place. Something that makes you want to stay for another beer.

It’s homely without being pretentiously cosy. But if you don’t want to sit with everyone and be a part of the bar buzz, you can go upstairs to their small lounge.

The lounge is like a secret room in the bar which you disappear into if you want to have a quiet moment.

It’s ideal for small groups who want a relaxed drink. Otherwise, sit downstairs and feel the place throb.

The menu is expansive. Service is not bad either; James, a very attentive guy who constantly got out of his way to accommodate our whims, served us.

Let’s be honest; most Karen drinking dens are stuffy. They take themselves too seriously.

Que Pasa is an “everyday people’s” bar without being tacky and cheap.

It has managed to strike the right balance of being open while making you feel like you can’t take your bad manners there.
