Electricity distributor Kenya Power has started the recruitment of a substantive chief executive following the exit of Ben Chumo in January after three years at the helm.

Deloitte has invited interested candidates to submit their applications to fill the position which is currently being held in acting capacity by Dr Kenneth Tarus who was until his appointment the firm’s general manager of finance.

Some of the key responsibilities of the new CEO will be to recommend to the firm’s board strategies, business plans and annual operating budgets to help Kenya Power meet its main objective of connecting citizens to the grid.

Applicants are required to have an undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in either humanities and arts, business, finance, computer science, social or physical sciences or engineering. They must also have at least 10 years’ experience in senior management at a large organisation as well as be acquainted with working with government as well as donors.

“To be considered, your application must be received by April 26, 2017,” the audit firm said in a newspaper advertisement last Friday.
