Former Speaker of the National Assembly Kenneth Otiato Marende has been appointed chairman of the Kenya Power board, weeks after being elected to join it.

This follows a board of directors meeting held on Monday, the first Marende attended following his election to join the board as a member on December 22.

Mr Marende, 58, succeeds Eliazar Ochola who served a four-year term at the country's national power distributor, becoming the 25th chairman of the board in the firm’s 94-year history.
