An investment co-operative owned by employees of Lancet Kenya, one of the country’s leading pathology laboratories, is set to build a Sh800 million estate in Mavoko, Machakos.

Lancet Housing Co-operative Society, which has 70 members, has unveiled plans to build 190 houses (two, three and four-bedroom maisonettes and flats) which will be sold to members and the public at between Sh5 million and Sh10.5 million.

Lancet Village, a gated community which will be located near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, will also have a commercial centre, a kindergarten as well as health and sports amenities.

“If the timelines given by the regulators hold true, we expect to break ground sometime in July. This is an 18-24 month project,” Patrick Were, Lancet Housing Co-operative Society’s chairman, told Business Daily in an interview.

“The plan is to sell the houses to give first priority to our members and sell the rest to the public. The location of the project is quite ideal; it is about 10 minutes away from JKIA and the Syokimau railways station.”
