More than 80 per cent of Kenyan public institutions with websites host them locally, a survey of the ICT sector has showed.
National government institutions take the lead with 89.1 per cent of its agencies’ websites being hosted locally.
County governments come in second at 84.7 per cent of their websites hosted locally. Learning institutions and hospitals have the highest preference for external hosting with 24.2 per cent and 18.2 per cent of their websites being hosted externally respectively.
“Reliability of international Web hosting was the predominant reason for international website hosting cites at 72.7 per cent,” says a public sector survey report 2016.
