Canadian engineering group SNC-Lavalin has acquired UK-based design, engineering and project management consultancy firm WS Atkins, the company that purchased Kenyan-based infrastructure services firm Howard Humphreys.

SNC-Lavalin said its acquisition of WS Atkins is valued at £2.1 billion (about Sh287.1 billion).

“By combining our two highly complementary businesses, we are solidifying SNC-Lavalin’s position as one of the largest fully integrated professional services firms in the world,” said Neil Bruce, president & CEO, SNC-Lavalin.

“Together, we will become part of a larger global organisation that will open the door to new opportunities for further growth and development.”

The London listed British multinational, Atkins, announced the acquisition of East Africa’s consulting engineering firm Howard Humphreys in March last year with an eye on East Africa deals.
