Abdul Ahmed and Ghanrish Omar failed to comply with earlier court summons requiring them to attend Monday’s session to take a plea in the fraud case.
Two former senior managers of Chase Bank now face arrest for failing to appear in court to plead to the charges of conspiring to defraud the bank of over Sh 1.6 billion. Milimani senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku ordered police to arrest Abdul Ahmed and Ghanrish Omar after they failed to comply with earlier court summons requiring them to attend Monday’s session to take a plea in the fraud case.
At the same time, two other Chase Bank managers, Amiran Claudia and Mohammed Khan, through lawyer Cecil Miller made an application opposing taking of plea in the same case, saying the charges against them are defective.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, through senior state counsel James Warui, asked the court for more time to respond to the defence application.
The magistrate, however, ordered the application to be heard on September 7 before making any further direction.
The four are jointly charged alongside former Chase Bank chairman Mohamed Zafrullah Khan and three other senior managers, Mr Ducan Kabui Gichui (former Group MD), James Mwenja, and Makaros Agumbi.
