MultiChoice Kenya’s subsidiary GOtv is set to introduce four additional football and entertainment channels in a bid to ring-fence its customers amid growing competition from Internet and other pay TV operators.
The new GOtv package features SuperSport Select 4 channel which will give its subscribers access to all La Liga matches on SuperSport Select 4, select live Premier League games and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) contests.
MultiChoice, the South African-owned pay TV operator with the biggest market share in Kenya, has lately come under increased competition from rivals and international Internet TV firms such as Netflix that are making inroads with increased purchase of smart TVs in the market.
The Sh1,299 package further includes Fox Entertainment, Sony MAX, CBS Reality channels, which air a variety of entertaining programmes containing reality television, drama and action movies.
GOtv Previously had three packages comprising of GOtv Plus, Value and Lite with a total of 17, 28 and 42 channels, respectively. Plus, Value and Lite packages cost Sh699, Sh470 and Sh220 per month, respectively.
