Luxury boutique hotel Hemingways Nairobi has hired former Fairmont Kenya executive Richard Kimenyi as its new general manager.

Mr Kimenyi has previously held different roles at Fairmont including as general manager of its Fairmont The Norfolk property for more than three decades. He replaces Simon Hodson who left to join the Marriot Group.

“We are delighted to welcome Richard to the Hemingways Collection team. His extensive experience in the luxury hotel industry makes him a great fit for this role,” Hemingways Collection’s CEO Alastair Addison said in a statement.

Hemingways Nairobi, part of the Hemingways Collection, opened its Sh1.5 billion hotel in May 2013.

Simba Corporation bought a 35 per cent stake in Hemingways Holdings, providing the parent company with growth capital.

“I am excited to be joining Hemingways Nairobi. The hotel offers remarkable five-star quality hospitality and I am looking forward to working with such a diligent and enthusiastic team to elevate our guests’ experience in business, leisure, gastronomy and conferencing,” Mr Kimenyi said.
