Twiga Chemicals clinches Company of Year top award

Twiga Chemical Industries scooped the 2017 Company of the Year Award (COYA) while its managing director Anantharaman Ramamurthy took home the first runner’s-up CEO’s trophy.

The 18th edition of the COYA Awards Gala Night held in Nairobi also saw ICEA General Insurance’s Steven Oluoch emerge as the best CEO while Nairobi Bottlers was COYA’s 1st Runner’s-Up.

Speaking at the event, Dennis Awori who is Toyota Kenya and Toyota Tsusho East Africa chairman urged local company heads to actively participate in the day-to-day running of their firms to help fast-track decision making as an essential strategy in making companies resilient.

“Aloof leaders kill the vision and destiny of the organisation. This is the time for company executives to be consistent, communicate effectively and maintain their bearing anchored on their values as their compass,” he said.

Blowplast’s Kaizen co-ordinator Charanjeet Singh scooped the 2017 Manager of the Year award while the first runner’s-up award went to Twiga Chemical Industries Crop Protection and Animal Health General Manager James Mwangi.

In the SME category, the Overall Certificate of Recognition for SMOYA 2017 was awarded to  I-Trade Company .

Kenya Institute of Management governing council (COYA administrators) chairman Kris Senanu urged company executive to adopt use of information technology as a matter of urgency saying failure to gain an online niche exposed companies to disruption which risked wiping out their market.
