The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) is set to have a new chief executive officer following a decision by the incumbent not to renew his term.

Gideon Misoi’s tenure ended on July 31 after two terms in office having been appointed in 2006.

“Prof Misoi has opted out of NCPB following the expiry of his tenure. He decided not to renew his term for reasons best known to him,” said NCPB corporate affairs manager Evans Wasike.

Mr Wasike noted that the outgoing CEO will be replaced by Cornel Ngelechey on an acting capacity as they wait for the government to appoint the new boss.

Until his appointment, Mr Ngelechey has been the finance manager at the parastatal where he has served for the past 20 years on different capacities.

“Mr Ngelechey has a wealth of experience on the affairs of the NCPB having served for more than two decades in the institution,” says Mr Wasike.

Prof Misoi has worked before as the head of mechanical engineering at the University of Nairobi.

The grain handler is embroiled in a court case with a supplier who attached the board’s accounts.

Erad Supplies and Contractors Limited is locked in a tussle with the NCPB over the cancellation of a 2004 maize supply tender.

The High Court awarded the firm Sh574 million over the breach of contract.
