State to set up baby-care hubs for its workers
Sunday July 31 2016Public servants with babies will enjoy day-care facilities at taxpayers’ expense near their workplaces in the next three years in an effort to boost women’s productivity.
The new human resource policy launched on Thursday has given public institutions three years to set up the facilities to allow breastfeeding mothers to bond with their children.
The government will be following in the footsteps of corporates such as Safaricom and Craft Silicon that have established day care centres. The firms say the centres allow parents to give their best at work as they worry less about their babies care.
“Every public institution shall within three years of coming into force of this policy, take necessary measures to provide supporting social services to enable parents to combine family obligations with work responsibilities,” reads part of the policy.
