Finding a perfect spot to eat while on a long trip sometimes proves tricky, especially if you have a sensitive stomach.

A drive-in customer not only wants tasty food, but also variety on the menu.

Dry-fry buffalo wings are perfect as a starter. At Brown Olive Restaurant at the Panari Resort in Nyahururu, the buffalo wings come in sevens and you have to eat them without the forks and knives, devour them with your hands.

“Our dry-fry buffalo wings have a touch of onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, coriander and tomato ketchup to give clients a feel-good sensation,” said Fredrick Mutili, the chief chef at Brown Olive Restaurant.

These are served on a bed of tossed noodle and vegetable julienne.

There are both à la carte and buffet menu for drive-in customers, majority of whom have limited time to spare for a quick meal.

Mr Mutili, who worked in the US for five years in celebrity cruises prior to joining the Panari, understands the value of a rich menu and a chef in tow to answer any questions.

After the buffalo wings, pick lamb chops and cutlet as the main course.

“The lamb chops are grilled per guest specifications and are served with ugali, kales and mint reduction,” he said .

Since the lamb chops are red meat, he recommends that you wash them down with a glass of red wine.

Red wines typically pairs well with red meat because meat stands up to the tannins. However, you can substitute this with rich, full-bodied white wines.

For dessert, Mr Kitilu suggests Tiramisu or unbaked cheese cake. Tiramisu is a popular coffee-flavoured Italian custard dessert that has a distinct flavour of strong espresso soft and creamy mascarpone cream which is made from whole cream and citric or tartaric acid.
