Nigeria-based Courier plus is banking on direct flights from Kenya to the rest of Africa to grow its business following its launch in the East African market.

The company launched operations in Nairobi on Monday and is in the process of opening offices in Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and Kericho, to take on giant brands such as DHL.

East and Central Africa Regional Head Maureen Kolenyo said opening offices in Kenya is a strategic decision as the firm moves to boost its international presence.

“Logistically, Kenya has direct flights to all the countries in East and Central Africa, therefore, setting up office in Nairobi will allow us to offer superior services to our customers across the region,” she said during the unveiling ceremony.

The firm commenced operations in Rwanda in February this year and intends to unveil in Uganda and Tanzania in Q3 of 2017.

Currently Courierplus, rated the fourth largest express company in Nigeria, does deliveries in the East African countries but does not operate offices within them.
