CIC Insurance #ticker:CIC has partnered with AA Kenya (AAK) to train 400 Nairobi City County drivers, to enhance skills so as to cut motor vehicle insurance claims.

The training programme includes defensive driving skills, application of Highway Code, driving attitude and responsibility of drivers among others.

The training is expected to reduce repair costs and chances of vehicle damage, time off work due to injuries and hospitalisation, which hinders productivity. The county is also seeking to build a vehicle record that will attract lower insurance premium rates in the future.

The arrangement follows CIC Insurance Group securing this year’s contract to offer general insurance for the Nairobi City County.

CIC managing director for general insurance Elijah Wachira said the group has invested about Sh4 million to impact modern critical driving skills in line with the new requirement by the National Transport and Safety Authority to have all drivers retrained before being issued with driving licences.

“The objective of the training is to minimise injuries, loss of life and county government motor vehicle assets resulting from avoidable accidents,” said Mr Wachira.
