London-based Exotix Capital, a specialist frontier and emerging markets investment bank, has hired ex-Equity Bank #ticker:EQTY executive Mbithe Muema as head of equity sales in Nairobi as it continues to expand its investment banking unit.

The firm, which is a partner with Equity Investment Bank, said this was aimed at consolidating its investment banking presence in Kenya with an eye on the energy, financial and consumer sectors.

Ms Muema previously worked at African Alliance Kenya, with stints at Renaissance Capital and Equity Bank as a research analyst.

She has been hired alongside Serge Marston, currently head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa sales at NEX markets and Chiamaka Ezenwa, formerly of Morgan Stanley in London and FBN Capital in Lagos.

“We are excited to have Serge, Chiamaka and Mbithe on board to help us take full advantage of the opportunity presented by our unique place in the world’s most exciting economies,” said Duncan Wales, CEO of Exotix.

Exotix announced early August that it was expanding its Nairobi unit, adding it had hired the first of three new analysts.
