Renowned emerging markets-focused fund manager Mark Mobius has said investors at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) have a “huge” opportunity for great returns in the coming years.

Mr Mobius, executive chairman at Singapore- based Templeton Emerging Markets Group, told Bloomberg’s Year Ahead Asia conference in Jakarta Wednesday the NSE offers some of the best opportunities for better returns in emerging markets.

Besides Kenya, Mr Mobius whose team runs about Sh4.1 trillion (£29.8billion) of assets, also said he was keen on stocks from South Africa, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe.

Foreign investors have rushed back to the Nairobi bourse after political tension showed signs of cooling.

“We’ve seen a lot of interest from foreign buyers in the last few sessions. This is expected to continue as the market recovers from the election slump,” said Stella Wambugu, a dealer at Standard Investment Bank (SIB).
