A statement by the Judiciary Media Service on Tuesday shows 21 petitions are before the High Court while 53 others are before various Magistrate’ Courts.
Those facing petitions include Embu governor Martin Wambora, Garissa’s Ali Bunow, Dhadho Godhana of Tana River, Anne Waiguru of Kirinyaga, Mandera’s Ali Roba and Taita Taveta’s Granton Samboja.
Election appeals should be filed within 28 days of the date of results declaration.
Seventy four poll petitions have so far been filed challenging the election of various leaders during the August 8 polls, the Judiciary has announced.

The High Court is handling petitions challenging posts of governor, senator and member of the national assembly; while the Magistrate’s Courts are tackling petitions against Member of County Assembly positions.
“Any persons intending to contest the results of the election are required to file election petitions within 28 days of the date of declaration,” read the statement.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) started declaring winners at county tallying centres a day after conclusion of voting on August 8.
The law requires that ruling on a petition is made within six months from the case filing date.

The High Court has received 13 petitions against MPs, two against senators but is yet to receive any against a Woman Representatives.
The court has also received party list petitions including two filed in Kapenguria and two others in Busia and Nyeri counties.
A total of six petitions have been filed at Magistrates Courts in Nakuru, Nyeri, Muranga, Nyahururu and at the Milimani Commercial courts.
Among complaints is lack of consideration for persons with disability, marginalized groups and special interest groups.
The Supreme Court annulled declaration of President Uhuru Kenyatta as validly elected, ordering fresh presidential elections within 60 days that lapse on October 31.
The National Super Alliance has rejected the October 17 fresh presidential poll date by the IEBC saying it was not consulted.
