Former Finance minister Amos Kimunya has made a political comeback after securing the Jubilee Party ticket for the Kipipiri parliamentary seat.

Mr Kimunya had lost his seat to incumbent Samuel Gichigi in 2013, a disgraceful loss to his ex-personal assistant.

However, Mr Gichigi failed to secure his chance to defend his seat after the Kibaki-era minister beat him with a tally of 16,479 votes against his 5,999 in the Jubilee Party primaries.

Also making a comeback is former Naivasha MP and one time assistant minister Jayne Kihara in Naivasha constituency, Nakuru County.

She beat the incumbent Mr John Kihagi after garnering 21,111 votes against his 8,225.

Ms Kihara controversially lost her seat in 2008 and was later accused by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) of playing a role in Kenya's tribal clashes in Naivasha.

She lost after a High Court judge confirmed former Nacada chairman John Mututho as MP when her petition against his election was struck out.

At least six incumbent MPs in Nakuru and Nyandarua failed to secure the Jubilee Party ticket after being floored by their rivals in the just concluded nominations.
