Meru governor Peter Munya has called for talks between national and county government officials to end a stalemate over demarcation of land earmarked for a 400-megawatt wind farm by KenGen #ticker:KEGN.
Mr Munya and the county government obtained a temporary injunction stopping the adjudication at Ngaremara/Gambella area citing lack of consultation and public participation.
Later, a Meru court rejected a request by 9,000 owners of the 45,000-acre land to quash the orders that stopped the demarcation.
“We are ready to meet with national government officials any time to plan how it will be done. But we will not allow a process that lacks transparency and accountability,” Mr Munya said.
“KenGen cannot give money behind our backs to facilitate adjudication of a trust land, and expect us to sit and watch. Such a process will not go anywhere.”
