President Uhuru Kenyatta held separate talks with four world leaders on security, trade, health and infrastructure investments at the G7 Summit.

Mr Kenyatta met with Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“With Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, conversation centred on continued co-operation in infrastructure investments, especially in energy and the ports,” said State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu on Sunday.

The Japanese leader said implementation of the TICAD meeting resolutions were on course.

Mr Kenyatta’s talks with Mr Macron dealt on deepening the two countries collaboration in security and industrialisation, noting Peugeot’s return to assembling in Kenya.

Earlier in the year, the PSA Peugeot Group vice president for Middle East and Africa Jean-Christophe Quemard disclosed that the company will roll out its first Kenyan assembled car in June in this year.

“We have pumped in Sh1.2 billion and are looking to employ 200 people and want to start with at least 1,000 units at a go,” said Mr Quemard.

The French automaker will begin with its famous brand, the Peugeot 508. Last year, German carmaker Volkswagen opened a new assembly plant in Thika.
The talks with Mr Trudeau touched on improved partnership in health and security matters.

And with Mrs Merkel they reviewed how to improve engagement with Africa in order that the continent contributes to resolving global issues.
