Coffee house Java has opened a new shop in Kericho, becoming the latest landmark developments in the county.

The branch, which is the 61st of the Java houses in Africa, is situated on the ground floor at Greensquare Mall, one of the business centres in Kericho. The mall is situated opposite Kericho County Assembly.

Java Group chief executive officer Ken Kuguru on Thursday said the brand was keen to devolve its services outside Nairobi.

“As a brand that is keen to introduce coffee culture to East Africa, we are excited to be in Kericho to open an 11th city and 61st branch. Its like coming home,” said Mr Kuguru.

He, however, said that they are not interested in changing the culture of the people to a coffee only menu, but will offer variety of quality beverages including the best tea as majority of the locals enjoy, and variety of foods.

He said the new development would see locals benefit from new markets offered by the house for local products like chicken, tea, coffee and vegetables.

“Just like in all other ventures, we shall source our products and ingredients locally. In everything we do, it is in honour of the local community for mutual benefit,” said the CEO adding that the house brings in 10 new employees to the county.
