Heavy rains forecast for Coast region this week

  • Forecast for between October 24 and 30 indicates that the region will experience heavy rains especially in the South Coast.
  • The Meteorological department says rainfall is expected to spread to areas that had been dry resulting into enhanced rainfall being experienced over most parts of the country between Wednesday and Thursday.

The Coast region is expected to receive heavy rainfall between today and next Wednesday, according to a weather forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department.

Forecast for between October 24 and 30 indicates that the region will experience heavy rains especially in the South Coast.

The Meteorological department says rainfall is expected to spread to areas that had been dry resulting into enhanced rainfall being experienced over most parts of the country between Wednesday and Thursday.

The counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale are expected to experience morning showers over several places from Tuesday to Thursday and over few places from Friday, Sunday and next Monday afternoon.

Heavy rains have been pounding Mombasa and neighbouring counties of Kilifi and Kwale since on Sunday.

The short rain season at the Coast begins in October up to November.

Extra caution

Meanwhile, the Kenya Meteorological Department has advised small vessel owners to take extra care while venturing into the sea following strong winds in the Indian Ocean.

The forecasters warned that rough sea conditions are expected due to high waves generated by strong breeze especially in the deep sea.
